My body of work is a wearable set made from different crochet and knit patterns. Conceptually, I wanted to touch on the idea of ‘women's work’ and that knitting was a hobby for old people. However, I wanted to take this ‘old’ practice and give it new life as something modern and unique. Each piece throughout my dress or jacket has a story and each piece is different, just like humans. I took discarded items that all had a story of their own and used them to create something new. While on the surface my BOW may look like a wacky costume thrown together by some very colour-blind grandmothers, the stories behind each part of my work prove that in life ‘It Takes A Village’.
