Drawing from the inspiration of my Grandfather’s struggle, my BOW ‘Chasing Memories’, materialises the debilitating nature of Dementia and Alzheimers. Rendering my portraits as openly vacant and empty, I utilised pointillism with monochromatic ink to create an engaging, unique, and confronting visual effect that symbolises the sporadic relationship between remembering and forgetting. The irony of my portraits' clarity when depicting a struggle against confusion is used to evoke emotional responses within audiences and spark their empathy for those living with the disease.
