Through this body of work I responded to my personal experience regarding the challenges of living with chronic medical conditions. After having constant blood tests, IV’s, infusions, and scans I was inspired to explore the mysteries of the body on a microscopic and cellular level. I aimed to symbolise the complexities and the intricacy that is involved when seeking a medical diagnosis, highlighting the obstacles faced and medical expertise required to deduce an answer. The veins reaching in all directions are used to symbolise the diversity of the journey towards truth, along with the sheer desperation for answers, clinging to any kind of certainty. The abstraction and individual interpretation of cellular structures were an attempt to embody the idea of concealment and dysfunction as a result of chronic medical conditions, ultimately communicating the intricacy and diversity each individual holds within themselves.
